I’m an American writer and editor with more than a decade of experience in the Middle East. I currently live in Amman, Jordan, with my husband and two sons.

As a freelance journalist, I love helping Western readers better understand Arabs and their culture and heritage. I’m drawn to refugees and treasure opportunities to record their stories. Highlighting women’s voices is a priority in my work.

When writing creative nonfiction, I often explore how physical locations and cross-cultural relationships impact my faith and spiritual life. I also like to write about plants and art.

Long ago, I did copyediting and proofreading for a large US publisher. Now I’m assistant editor of Anthrow Circus, a multimedia site exploring culture through the lens of place.

Things I love: the Arabic language, Indian-style chai, knitting, my parsley patch, journaling, urban walks with my preteen, coloring with my preschooler, watching stand-up comedy with my husband, sitting quietly with my God.
